Jiayun is a multidisciplinary designer studying Industrial Design at Arizona State University, who will graduate in the summer of 2020. He was born in Beijing back in November 1995. Jiayun came to the United States in 2010, he finished high school in Cincinnati, Ohio, then drove across the country to Arizona to become a proud sun devil. He loves filming, especially in short documentary styles. In 2015, his friend Jerome Tan and he created the concept of "Wan Jia." In translation, this characterizes a person who dedicates themself toward their passion. The inspiration these people gave them sparked the idea to start a documentary series. Since then, Jiayun has met so many interesting characters who embody the Wan Jia personality.
In 2017, their pet project received VICE's attention, and "WanJia" now resides on VICE.cn as part of their content program. In 2019, “WanJia” was broadcasted during Saturday Prime Time on the Chinese national television channel "The Travel Channel.” This has been an incredible adventure in the world of film, and he couldn't have seen better results in the short three years since he first picked up his camera to shoot video. Jiayun wishes he could have more than 24 hours in a day, so he can pursue his passions, to build cool products and film inspiring characters. This synergy of having multidisciplinary skills helps him to face design challenges and execute his ideas in a variety of fun and exciting ways.
