Erick Leyva Jr.

Erick Leyva Jr is a 28 year old student from Downey, California who focuses on transportation design and the emerging EV world in his industrial design work. Erick has been studying product and transportation design for many years, looking towards the likes of Frank Stephenson and Syd Mead as sources of inspiration. He is also a studio art minor and this has helped him refine his eye for design and the way that renderings can be lit or composed in the frame. Erick’s short films have been mostly biographical tackling the subjects of what it means to have a passion that not a lot of people understand, family dynamics, and the love of automobiles. Through the lens he has learned how design and camera work can be combined to make an interesting product in the visual medium. Erick prefers to see his design as an art rather than a science. While still wanting to learn more about the science behind design like designing with aerodynamics in mind, his art background has always pushed him to design works that can stand as art on their own.
